Nature now, like an athlete, begins to strip herself in earnest for her contest with her great antagonist, Winter. In the bare trees and twigs what a display of muscle!
He always observes nature in the most passionate way. I always thought of autumn as a time nature is all dressed up, all the beautiful striking colors, and then slowly disrobing down to its nakedness to reveal its true nature...
the wind and cold of winter would surely break the branches if the leaves remained yet we have to put more clothes on in winter or we would surely break
