From time to time (I'd love to say daily for the next year but doubt my ability to do so) I will post something from The Journal of Henry D. Thoreau from that same date circa 1854 give or take a decade or so. Mr. Thoreau should be blogging. I know he has more to say than I. Henry, it's all yours.
